Guilt is seemingly one of the biggest emotional challenges new moms face, however, (publically) not often discussed. Whether it be guilt around the choices they’ve made as a parent, their bond with their new baby, or their ability to provide adequate emotional or financial support, guilt is an extremely pervasive emotion felt throughout motherhood. One mother may have put it best when asked the one thing she wished she had known before becoming parent,

“We all feel guilty about something, there’s just so much guilt and feelings of inadequacy, a lot of people feel silly that they’re struggling … but the first [child] is really hard ... We’re all beating ourselves up about something and feeling bad about feeling bad, but everyone’s just going through different variations of the same thing”
